Bye Bye 2010!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I know it's not quite time but there is NO way that Mommy and Daddy are going to let me stay up that late. Come to think of it, I am not sure that I want to see myself awake that late. So I am getting mine in now.

Talk to you in 2011!

Mountain Mover

Hello Everyone! I am going to warn you that this will be a short one. But have no fear because I have some stories to tell you. But i just had to share part of an email that my Mommy and Daddy recently got from a friend:

Miles - Mountain Mover:
In case you need some history just check out the man's website: http://mrmilesanthony.blogspot.com/ He is a flat out miracle. To be honest though, he comes from two mountain movers who refuse to accept anything less than the miraculous. After hanging out with Mr. Miles a week ago I can see that hell is in trouble because nothing is going to stop this boy from doing WHATEVER God calls him to do. He just wont allow it. Keep it up mommy and daddy and Miles just might lead the church to perfection and send us all to Heaven... just because someone said it wasn't possible.

Wow....I guess Mommy and Daddy were on to something when they chose my name. Miles means "soldier" and "merciful". I guess I can see why Mommy and Daddy stay on me so much. I'm gonna do GREAT things one day!!! If of course I can make it through my toddler years.....but we'll get to that in the next post.

Love, Mr. Miles

Time flies.....

Happy December!!! Wow time sure does fly when you are having fun! I hope that everyone had a super duper Thanksgiving....I know I did! Daddy, Mommy, me, and Stymie made a trip to Goldsboro. I had a great time seeing everybody. And of course my favorite part was playing with all of my cousins. Grandma Dot's house is the best because you can run and run and still not end up in the street. Daddy and Mommy even left me hang up late a few times. Unfortunately that didn't go as well as I would have liked. I guess Mommy works so hard to keep me on a schedule for a reason. Despite my best efforts I am just SOOOOO cranky when I don't get enough sleep. I guess Mom and Dad really do know best!
On the way back from Goldsboro we made a few stops. First we stopped to see Cousin Martin. I really enjoyed that visit. But it might have something to do with Mommy not being able to hold Martin because she was a little sick. But hey...I will take it however I can get it!
Once we left Aunt Courtnee's house we stopped at my Great-Aunt Donna's house. I got to meet my cousins from NJ that were visiting. The coolest part about that was that one of my cousins was named Myles (yep that's with a y not an i). He was 2 like me.....well really 2 1/2 but who's counting?!?
I was a little sad to find out that I wasn't going to get to see all my cousins again for Christmas. But then Mommy fixed that. We are going to have an early Christmas next week. Everybody is going to come and visit us in Charlotte so that we can celebrate together. So be sure to check back soon for the update.
FYI Mommy has finally done her homework and uploaded lots of new pictures. So please check them out when you have a chance.
Signing off for now.....Love, Mr. Miles

I'm baaaaaack.....

.....and better than ever if I do say so myself!! As most of you probably already know I TURNED 2 last month!!! And boy do I know I am 2! Mommy says that I have a new air of maturity about me. She even moved my bedtime back a little bit. Well she did until Daylight Savings Time. Now no matter how hard I try, I start getting a little crazy around 6:00pm. And Mommy has no choice but to get me ready for bed. But no worries because I am up and at em between 6:30am and 7:00am much to Mommy's frustration. But don't blame me...blame whoever created this whole DST. I am as much a victim as Mommy is!

Since I am now 2, I have gotten involved in lots of new big boy activities. Mommy signed me up for a wonderful art class last month. However, I was less concerned with the art project and more concerned with hanging out with my buddy Max who turned 2 also. Mommy also took me to my first music class this week. I was supposed to go last week but I wasn't feeling well. But there are still 3 more classes that I get to attend. The music class was pretty cool! It was at the new yoga studio that Mommy's friend opened. Ms. Diane is really nice and she has known me for a loooong time. She taught Mommy yoga while she was pregnant with me!

Earlier in the month I got to go to Chapel Hill which is where Mommy went to school and the best public university in the state (Mommy made me add that part). It was Mommy's 10 year reunion!! We had a really good time. I got to hang out with my cousin Martin. I have to admit that the kids is starting to grow on me. He is almost as cool as I was at that age ;-). Before we left the area to come home, we all went to Uncle Anthony and Aunt Tina's house to hang out. We had a blast!!!

Well I am getting sleepy and running out of things to say. Mommy promises (like always) to get more pictures up soon.

Leaps and bounds

The title does not describe my movements (although now that I think about it, it probably does). But I was really referring to how much I have been learning lately. Mommy and Daddy have really been keeping me busy learning lots of new things. Mommy even put up some really cool posters to help me practice.

I already know most of my body parts. However, Mommy just recently introduced me to my elbows. I get the biggest kick out of saying that word "elbow".

I have also been working on learning my colors. Right now I know orange, purple, yellow, and blue pretty well. I am still working on red and green. I know orange so well that I even seem to find it whenever we are driving around town. You would be surprised at how many orange signs there are on the road. I also point out all the red lights I see. I don't think Mommy ever gets tired of that one.

Although I practice my letters every day I am not quite ready to share my knowledge with the world. So as not to discourage, I do point out the letter "I" whenever I see it written. However, I am keeping the rest of the letters to myself for the time being. If I give them too much they might expect me to perform at that level all the time.

In other family news, I got to go to Asheville to spend a few days with my Grandpa Rob for his birthday. He is really funny. He makes funny faces all the time. Sometimes I join in with him just to humor him. I can't have him looking silly all by himself. Asheville is a pretty cool place. You wouldn't believe all the good food that is there either! I can't wait to go back for another visit.

My other grandpa, or Papa as I like to call him, left to move to Richmond. I am pretty sad about that. But I know that I have to be strong for Nana. I have to try and keep her company while Papa is away. She says that Papa is gonna come back and visit us a whole lot.

This past weekend Mommy went away for almost 2 days!! I wasn't sure if Daddy and I were going to make it. But somehow we found a way. Daddy seemed a little sad without her. I did my best to cheer him up. I also made sure I was on my best behavior so that Mommy wouldn't worry. Daddy made sure to call Mommy every night so that I could talk to her before I went to bed. She even read me a book over the phone. I haven't figured out exactly how she did that. But she got most of the words right so I am not going to complain. I am not sure what all Mommy was doing while she was gone. But she sure was tired when she came home. So Daddy and I gave her a few days to get herself together.

Next week Mommy and I get to go with Daddy to Florida. So don't expect to hear much from me for awhile. :-)

P.S. my birthday is coming up soon....I'll be 2 on October 8th!! I can't wait. Daddy said that he'll just be happy to be able to say my age in years instead of months. He's so silly :-)

Ain't no stopping me now....

I'm on the move!! As you can imagine I am a pretty busy guy these days. 2 years old is just around the corner. These days I am most interested in READING, READING, READING! I absolutely LOVE to read books. I never get tired of bringing Mommy and Daddy books to read. But unfortunately they do. It's not my fault that I have so many wonderful books to read that I want to read them all....every day. When I am not reading I love to figure things out whether it be pushing buttons (remotes and electronics are my favorite), pulling handles (love those toilets), or turning knobs. Mommy and Daddy are always busy trying to figure out how to keep me out of certain things. But I always find something new to get into.
One thing that Mommy and I both enjoy is drawing with chalk on the sidewalk. I actually like to draw with everything (pens, pencils, crayons, etc.). But Mommy tells me all the time, that while that is okay at Nana and Papa's house, it doesn't quite work at home. So Mommy limits me to chalk outside and crayons with paper in my high chair.
I am also working on developing my musical tastes. Although I have to admit it usually starts and ends with Junior from Veggie Tales. I just can't seem to go to sleep without listening to Junior's Bedtime Songs album.
My Aunt Courtnee and Uncle Britt finally had my cousin Martin. He is a cutie too! Last time we stopped by for a visit, I didn't really get to play with him though. I was too busy with my dinner. I gotta prioritize! But Mommy assures me that I will get to see him soon.
Please check out my new pictures. There are some funny ones with my Grandpa Rob. I am so excited that I get to see him more often since he moved from California. He is always making silly faces.
Well that's all for now. It's time for dinner. Like I said, I have to prioritize!

21 months and counting!

Hi everybody! If you don't already know, yesterday was a very important day for me. I turned 21 months old which puts me 1 month closer to my 2nd birthday. I have been super busy since my last post.
The only thing that slowed me down a bit was my teeth. I have about 8 that are all trying to come in at the same time. Boy, has that been painful. Mommy and Daddy have tried to be extra patient with me during my cranky times. If only I could have bought stock in Ibuprofen and Orajel, I'd be a rich kid by now! Thankfully, 3 of them have already come through and I seem to be getting a temporary reprieve from the really bad pain.
Last month I got to help Mommy and Daddy celebrate lots of special days. First, Mommy had a birthday. Then we got to celebrate Happy Mommy's Day. And then it was Daddy's turn for Happy Daddy's Day. Coming up this month is Daddy's birthday. Adults sure do get to celebrate lots of days!
Last month we also had another family reunion. Only this time it was Papa's side of the family and it was here in Charlotte. I got to meet lots of new family members. There were lots of kids to play with too.
In the past 2 weeks I have gone to my first funeral and first wedding. We got to spend a week in Goldsboro because my great-great-aunt died. Mommy & Daddy said that I acted like a big boy at the funeral. Stymie even got to come and hang out with us (Goldsboro not the funeral). I got to spend lots of time with my cousins. Daddy even let me visit Uncle Danny at Krispy Kreme where I got to eat my 1st donut. I loved it even though Mommy made sure it didn't have any sugary glaze on it.
Then we had to go to Atlanta because Daddy was in a wedding. I don't want to brag but I was the life of the reception. I was a DANCING MACHINE!!! Everyone says that I must get that from Mommy because Daddy never dances. Pictures are coming soon.
Those of you on Facebook know that I briefly got to experience life forward-facing in the car. But on the way to Atlanta, Mommy and Daddy turned me back around. I was being too much of a busy-body to fall asleep. So I am back facing the rear again (for now). But don't worry, it really doesn't bother me at all. ;-)
Well Daddy and I are about to head outside for a few minutes. So I will have to chat with you later.

One more thing....

Hey guys! I almost forgot to tell you about one of my more recent achievements. Well technically I did forget since the last post was about a month ago. But I'm a busy guy with lots on my mind. The big news is that I graduated from play therapy! Mommy talked things over with my play therapist and my case worker. And they all decided that I really wasn't behind in any areas. And just like that....I was a graduate. Although I didn't get a party I did get a cool certificate and lots of hugs. So that was fine by me!! So now Mommy works extra hard to fill up that time with other fun activities.

A few weeks ago we got to go to Goldsboro to the family reunion! This is when Daddy's side of the family all gets together and reunes! :-) There was lots of food, games, and music. I had a BALL. But it took me two days to recover and catch up on all my sleep.

Last month we also got to attend the annual CMC NICU picnic that celebrates all the special babies that had to spend time in the NICU. I got to see some of the nurses that helped take care of me. Of course, I didn't remember them. But they SURE remembered me (I hope in a good way). While I was there I even got to ride a police motorcycle. That was the highlight of my day!

For the most part, I am just enjoying my summer hanging out with my family and friends. We have visited some pretty cool places. Cousin Jackson invited me to go to one of his favorite hang-outs...the nature museum. I got to see lots of cool animals. My new favorite place is the Kannapolis park which has a very cool water spray-ground. I thought I was a big boy running around playing in the water with all the big kids (pictures coming soon). It sure helped to beat the heat!

Mommy also tells me that I am going to have a new little cousin soon. When I saw Aunt Courtnee's tummy I knew that Cousin Martin must be ready to come out for sure! I can't wait to teach him all the things I know.

Well I'm off on another adventure!!

What a day.....

Hey Everyone! How have ya been? I have been well....as busy as ever. It's amazing how much life changes when you can walk. I haven't slowed down one bit, either! Before I forget, make sure that you check out the new pictures that Mommy uploaded. Daddy has taken some pretty good ones recently. And I am not just saying that because I am the subject of most of them ;-)

Today was a pretty harrowing day. I had my first trip to Urgent Care. That's where you go when you need to see a doctor really fast. Mommy had to take Stymie outside to go to the bathroom because the guy had come to spray the stinky stuff on our grass that is supposed to make it look really nice. I was standing at the door to watch them go. But Mommy didn't know that when she closed the door, the door decided to make a sandwich with my finger. Mommy and Daddy both thought I was crying because I wanted to go with Stymie. But then Daddy figured it out and it was a whirlwind from there! After the initial pain, I really didn't cry much even though my finger was huge. In fact, I happily sat in the car eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The Urgent Care was really cool. They had this machine with food in it and all these buttons and lights. Mommy must have been feeling extra sorry for me because she let me play with it all I wanted. Then they took me to the room in the back with all these fish everywhere. Finally, it was off to the room where the lady took some pictures of my hand. Even though Mommy and Daddy went with me, I didn't like it one bit. But the Doctor said my finger wasn't broken...just a little bruised. God knew what he was doing when he made little kids so tough!! So I went home after a dose of medicine and a cool picture of my finger.

The 2nd most exciting thing this month is that now I go to sleep all by myself. Although, I will be honest....Mommy and Daddy had to coax me into it. They call it sleep training. But truth be told I think it was more about training them more than me. At first, I cried when they left me in my room. But then I figured out that they would eventually come back. So when it is nap time or night night time, Mommy and Daddy put me in my crib and say goodnight. Then I lay there quietly with my stuffed pig (oink, oink) until I fall asleep. What a big boy!
Well I probably shouldn't be typing too much with an injured finger. So I am going to say good night for now!

Almost There

OK I am still playing catch up on my posting. There are just so many other things to do other than sitting on the computer. Well actually I do like to be on the computer. But it usually consists of me pushing lots of random keys while Mommy is trying to type. In fact, my favorite is the sleep key that makes Mommy's laptop go to sleep. I get a big laugh out of that one every time. But I digress....

OK back to January....I can't remember a whole lot of what went on back then. But I do remember that Mommy and Daddy got me dedicated. That is when a whole bunch of family and friends came to town. I got a pretty spiffy new outfit. And instead of going to the nursery I got to stay in the big church. Then we all got to go up on stage and Pastor Doug said some pretty cool things about me while these huge pictures of me played on the screens in the background. I was a TV star for a few minutes!!

In January, we also participated in the Martin Luther King, Jr. parade. That was lots of fun. I got to walk (well stroll) with Mommy's Zetas and Daddy's Sigmas. I even made it on the news....well my stroller did anyway.

I also had my 15-month appointment which went really well. I guess I say that because it meant I didn't have to get any shots. That is my kind of appointment!!

February was pretty slow as well. I was busy teasing Mommy and Daddy with my early attempts at walking. But of course I am well on the move now. Ain't no stopping me now!!!

But I do have one sad thing to report. During our vacation to Myrtle Beach Mommy and Daddy decided that it was as good as a time as ever to take away my paci. Can we get a moment of silence please?!? But the good news is that I have been just fine without it!! I think sometimes Mommy misses it more than I do.

Anyway I think I am finally caught up. You now know all the biggies that have happened to me in the past few months. Please look for some new pictures in the near future.

I'm a big boy now!

I know I am supposed to be talking about January. But that seems so long ago. And I have so many exciting things to share. I am currently writing you from Myrtle Beach, SC where I am on vacation with Mommy and Daddy and some of our friends. We are having such a great time. I like it because I get to stay up late every night which Mommy doesn't let me do at home. Plus I have friends to play with whenever I want.

Mommy is excited because I am walking. Well....just between you and me....I knew how to do this for a long time. But I knew that once I started Mommy and Daddy were going to expect me to do it all the time. Boy was I right!! But I have to admit that this is kind of a cool way to get around. There is a whole new level of the things that I can get into as well. And boy am I getting into them. This week I have been on all kinds of adventures.....inside my suitcase....inside the dishwasher....there's a whole new world out there!! Mommy insists on sneaking pictures of me on all my various escapades (see above). To my delight, I also realized that I am now tall enough to reach all of the door handles when I stretch really tall. So now I have been able to access all those bathrooms that Mommy has always wanted me to stay out of (for some reason unknown to me).

Well Mommy says I am pushing my luck being up this late. So I guess I better get going.

Hopefully, Mommy and Daddy will put up some pictures from our vacation.

Stay tuned for more coming soon!

Love, Mr. Miles

December 2009

How's it going? You are probably pretty mad at me. I know I have been gone for quite some time. No...I didn't have writer's block. Mommy and Daddy have been keeping me so busy that I haven't had time to check in with you all. So I am going to do my best to recall what has gone on over the past few months.

For starters, Daddy took Mommy and I on a few trips with him. I got to visit Charlottesville again. But I didn't get to see very much because it was sooooo cold. But I did have Stymie with me which made it a little better.

Unfortunately, I had my first real illness in December. Mommy heard me breathing funny one day and took me to the doctor. Turns out I had the beginning of an ear infection and croup. The doctor says that is when you bark like a seal. But Mommy gave me lots of medicine so I never got to find out what that sounds like.
Of course, there was the biggie...Christmas. Despite what you may think, I didn't really care very much about the presents. I was more interested in hanging out with my family and especially my cousins: Tajea, Khierston, Taylor, and Kendal. I got to see all of them plus lots more when we went to Goldsboro to visit my Great Grandma Dot. Even Stymie got to go!! I did get some pretty cool gifts. Mommy says that the house is finally starting to look like a kid lives there. I think all the bright colors add some pizazz to the place!
December also marked my transition to being a big boy. Mommy stopped nursing me and I also depleted my frozen milk supply (moment of silence please). So now I am a cow's milk boy all the way. I don't mind much though....food is food to me!
Finally, at the end of the month we had a special birthday party for Uncle Kyle. A bunch of his family and friends got to jump out and yell at him. I was more interested in playing with the cats. The night ended with food and cake. Grandma tried her best to sneak me a little cake but Mommy wasn't having it.
That's about all I can remember from December. I will ask Mommy to upload some of the pictures from Christmas so you can see how much fun I had!

Love, Mr. Miles
